Daily Utterings (Me)
2023
Part of an ongoing body of 'non-work', 'daily utterings' is a series of sculptural objects.

'Non-work' refers to the labour, primarily carried out by women, that is not valued or paid for by society.
It is a comment on a patriarchal division of labour that leads to the invisibility of women.

Each individual piece for 'daily utterings' embodies a private, unspoken response on an ordinary day. A pithy reply to an imagined posing of the question of 'how do you feel today?'. It is the revealing of a hidden reply that would usually be unveiled and remain private.

Fabricated as a silent protest to the status quo, the artist's response to this fictive interest manifests through the use of mundane objects found lying around the home - scrabble pieces - to infer the pervasiveness of inequity.

The work exists as small sculptures and archival prints.
