non-work:
daily utterings

Daily Utterings (Me)
2023
Part of a wider body of 'non-work', 'daily utterings' is a series of sculptural objects and photographic images..
'Non-work' refers to the labour, primarily carried out by women, that is not valued or paid for by society.
It contemplates the patriarchal division of labour that leads to the invisibility of women.
A response to the status quo manifests through the use of mundane objects commonly found lying around the home - scrabble pieces - to infer the pervasiveness and banality of inequity.
Each individual piece comprising the body of work 'daily utterings' embodies a private, unspoken response.
The revealing of a hidden reply that would usually be veiled and remain private.
Ongoing.
